Through My Lens: January

January can feel like the bleakest of months. The glow of Christmas seems like a distant memory, the days are short and energy is low. All I want to do curl up with in a blanket with a cup of tea and a good book and not venture out into the world until at least March.

January can also be one of the most beautiful months, winter sunsets are some of the most stunning you will see throughout the year and is there anything better than long walks on a cold, crisp January afternoon? I think not. This is the very reason I am forcing myself to venture out into nature as often as possible, preferably with my camera in tow. Not only is being outdoors good for me mentally, it encourages me to get creative with my camera - something I have been struggling with over the past couple of years.

The plan is do this throughout the year. Getting outdoors and capturing some of the beauty I see along the way at least once a week and then sharing them on a monthly blog post here. So here we are with some snippets from the month that was January.

January brought with it a mixture of bright crisp days and then also some freezing fog and frosty landscapes. Many layers were needed when venturing outside but there were some mild days to. I never ventured too far afield and all of these photos were taken around Doncaster Lakeside. Usually, I managed to sneak out for an hour after work a few times to witness some lovely sunsets and then there were a couple of lovely Saturday walks when it was particularly cold and icy and the lake had frozen over.

I am expecting more of the same from February with the added bonus of the evenings getting lighter so I can go for longer evening walks. I am also hoping to go hiking in the Peak District so stay posted for more snapshots next month.
